Managing energy usage

Please note that the above information serves only as an estimation and cannot reliably predict your actual costs after the tariff changes, as these depend upon your future consumption and seasonal variances. You may have also built up a credit balance or be in debt, which will also have an impact on the amount you will need to pay after the tariff change, which is not included in these estimates. The standing charge applied within this calculation is at the quarterly rate and may differ from your bill as it is applied on a daily rate.

Where can I top-up my meter card/key?

Top-ups are available from a number of locations in Guernsey.

Please note cards can no longer be topped up at Guernsey Electricity.

Run out of credit and the shops are closed?

You can activate the emergency Credit when the credit shown on the meter is below £1.00.
Emergency credit is available if the orange E/Credit light '4' is flashing.

To activate emergency credit just press the button '6' at the bottom of the meter, if the credit is below £0.00 the supply will be reconnected. The meter display will alternate between the Credit Balance -BAL and remaining Emergency Credit --1 available before disconnection.

Once the emergency credit has been used up, the entire balance due will have to be repaid before your supply can be reconnected.
